After a lot of procrastinating session due to endless teaching and directing work, I've finally finished shooting the video for my next cover last night! Featuring the amazing guitars by Blodwen's own Alexander Lexy, I have decided to cover something a little bit more challenging: "Opera no. 2" by the Russian sensation, Vitas. I honestly don't really remember how I first encountered Vitas, but I've known him since my theater days in Singapore back in the early 2000s. Vitas was also my first exposure to counter tenors, and through him I discovered several beautiful operas which I love to this day (Lucia di Lammermoor is one of them). Re-arranging such an iconic song into metal was really fun. The song itself has a very 'night circus' feel so it wasn't too difficult to incorporate distortion. My main challenge was transcribing Russian and writing phonetics of the lyrics (and memorizing them!) - it's always a challenge to learn a song in a foreign language, but I had a lot of fun doing it. This is my first cover in another language outside Japanese or English. Anyways stay tuned for the 31st and make sure you are following me in Instagram, Facebook and (of course...) YouTube! xoxo
